Review of 'The Intellectual Life' on 'GoodReads'

α - Cal Newport quoted this in Deep Work.

Ω(=,Φ,∞) - Should've read this instead of Deep Work, but now I know. I prefer to look at working on projects as more akin to gardening than worshiping a god. Nurturing an idea - isolating an area for it to grow, feeding, protecting, pruning, and even grafting - with extreme care - when necessary. The idea that anyone could be worthy to do a god's work is so bombastically pompous & arrogant that I question their sanity, intent, & morals. Later Sertillanges describes it as pursuing the Truth, which is a more reasonable goal.

π - "Your cowardice today is a poor guarantee for your heroism tomorrow."

⇝ - Corot, Averroes, Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologiae in Latin 😖😨😩
