Thirteen-year-old Alcatraz Smedry and his companions seek Al's father and grandfather in the Great Library of Alexandria, where they face undead, soul-stealing wraiths called the Curators of Alexandria, and one of the Scrivener's Bones, a part-human, part-machine mercenary.

Review of "Alcatraz versus the Scrivener's Bones" on 'Goodreads'

I love finally reading the Alcatraz books. Sanderson is one of my favorite authors, and reading something he did for fun just reminds me why. The books are just fun to read. There's so much meta-commentary on literature (especially Fantasy literature) that it's easy to forget that these are supposedly children's books. Especially when Sanderson manages to sneak in a joke here and there for the adults. Alcatraz is a great little fantasy series.
