Following the events in The Maze Runner - The Scorch Trials, Thomas and the surviving gladers are kept at the WICKED facility. Thomas, Brenda, and 2 gladers escape and go to Denver, where the majority of the book takes place.
The society is very well described and structured, the apocalypse looked frighteningly real, and yet nothing is fully uncovered, the author still keeps the reader in the dark about some topics, which is what has kept my attention and interest.
I recommend it to apocalypse-, and dystopia lovers, and have personally enjoyed every page of this book.

I quite enjoyed the first two books in this series, but this book was a bit different.

Pacing wise, it was closer to the first book, with a slow start then action right through to the conclusion.

Unlike the other two books though, I found many of the protagonists behaviours incredibly stupid and irritating. Including his behaviour towards the previous female lead, who got swapped along the way with a side character.

Then the conclusion itself, whilst possibly the only valid one, felt like a cop out and seriously undermined everything that occurred in all the books, whilst simultaneously leaving some pretty big questions unanswered.
