This is a wonderful book.  An illuminating introduction to a relatively little know part of Europe, the border between Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey.

Powerful book about the borders between Greece-Bulgaria-Turkey from way back in time to the present. It's about how borders shape our personal histories, how they tear us apart, and how they divide us. These are the personal stories of people on all sides of the borders and the things they've had to endure. It's also a personal journey for the author who grew up in Bulgaria when the border was closed and a forbidden place.
