Great memoir weaving growing up as an outcast with great books. I never heard his reading of the Iliad, which is Achilles is the best fighter but he doesn’t have the power and that tension between force and political power that’s always been there in Western Civilization, before which is crazy because it was the most important book I read as freshman. I also like his reading of truckers and teenagers both trying to get some place. I wouldn’t have been so forthcoming about my middle school years so I really give Phuc a lot of credit.
