Quentin Tarantino is infamous for his witty dialogue and engrossing characters, so it can be assumed that his rendition of "Inglorious Basterds" ought to be rife with ridiculous conversation and unique characterization. Right from page one, Tarantino sucks the reader in with a scene between milk farmer, Perrier LaPadite, and the Nazi Colonel, Hans Landa, in which the sophisticated Nazi switches between two different languages and outwits Sir LaPadite. While Inglorious Basterds certainly isn't as obscene as "Pulp Fiction" or "Reservoir Dogs," Tarantino's characters have conversations featuring Tarantino's trademark lyrical properties. Also, the violence in this particular screenplay is mostly up to the imagination of the reader, another endearing quality of Tarantino's work. However, the writer-director is sure to note that the brutality of Adolf Hitler's execution is supposed to be "particularly vivid." It seems appropriate.
