Mark Anderson reviewed Hot, flat, and crowded by Thomas L. Friedman
Review of 'Hot, flat, and crowded' on 'Goodreads'
3 stars
In his typically blunt manner, Friedman outlines the economic path to sustainability. It's heartening to see that someone so pro-business and so pro-American values is now pro-green. It speaks to the changing American dynamics of ecological awareness, as well as the growing agitation of businesses capable of thinking longer term. This book is a good introduction to the issues involved in moving towards a sustainable economy, and could serve as a useful outline to political action. However, if you are looking for more depth on these economic issues, check out Common Wealth by Jeffrey Sachs, The Ecology of Commerce by Paul Hawkins and Amory Lovins, or--for more details about sustainable farming and living--any book on Permaculture.
