Review of "The Yard (Scotland Yard's Murder Squad, #1)" on 'Goodreads'

I read the whole thing, because I was hoping to find another copper story that I could sink my teeth into, but I'm probably not going to pick up the next book anyway. There's not enough suspense, the protagonists are certainly no Sherlock Holmes, and I did not care about the crimes they solved, of which there were too many.

An entertaining historical procedural set in London with two (or three) mysteries unfolding in the wake of the unsolved Jack the Ripper murders.

Review of "The Yard (Scotland Yard's Murder Squad, #1)" on 'Goodreads'

I needed something light and maybe a touch frivolous that would keep my attention and got just that from The Yard.

The characters are interesting and likeable and the multiple mysteries intertwine satisfyingly but don't offer much in the way of suspense. The setting of the Scotland Yard murder squad a year after the Ripper murders is a good one; the shadow of that failure to capture Jack hanging over the whole plot.

If Grecian chooses to continue with these characters I'll probably join him.
