As a diary of the past ten years of collapse of western capitalism, this is a good starting point - especially the, not often considered in Anglo nations like mine, French angle on it. The problem for me with a collection of mostly unrelated essays like this is that there tends to be a repetition of ideas throughout. The publisher may have done better to present these Essays to Piketty and asked him to write a 100 page summary of all the themes he touched on.
