Review of 'Art of Brom' on 'Goodreads'

5/5

I fell in love with Brom's art on MTG cards long before I started to pursue a professional career in art and illustration. Now that I think about it, I think it's likely that Brom's work contributed to that choice in some way.

The book begins with a few pages that describe Brom's upbringing, his background and his life. The milestones that led him to art and the darker side of fantasy. It then continues with dozens of his artworks, some from earlier years and other more recent work. It serves as a beautiful timeline that describes Brom's evolution as an artist but also illustrates magnificently how impactful and clever his artistic vision is.

Although there are some passages that elaborate on larger projects and endeavors (such as Brom's literary work), the art is given plenty of space and presented in excellent quality.

If you're a fan of Brom's artwork you need to get this book. It's as simple as that. This is a truly wonderful retrospective.

I was one of the backer's on Kickstarter and I'm very happy with the final product. There's a couple of typos in the first section but nothing worth knocking a star off for.
