I ordered this book from Clarkesworld after my favorite author, Anne Bishop, recommended Lynn Flewelling.
By the time I read this, I had already read the Tamir Triad, only as the books for that trilogy were more quickly available to me than the books in the Nightrunner series.
I read this book in a couple days. It is not a particularly fast read. The passage of time from when the last book finished and this one started was nice. The war is still on, which is a surprise, but yet not considering the Tamir Triad. After this book I had thoughts of how similar Skala/Mycena/Plenimar/Aurenen are to Valdemar/Rethwellen/Karse/the nomadic people who I can't think of their name.
I highly recommend Ms. Flewelling's work.
