A mystery with a ghost and an intricate plot -although it felt a bit contrived in the end. I really did enjoy it - the ghost is the best ghost I've read since the (possible) ghosts in Henry James' The Turn of the Screw, which I love.
If you like Gothic mysteries this book is for you. I read this at the right time of year, rainy season. The crime solving did not have obvious holes in it, which was refreshing. I did have a slight Scooby-Doo moment at the end but just barely. You know the whole "I would've gotten away with with it if it weren't for..." It was not quite that cute and far more serious. Great setting, time period, and characters. I really enjoyed this book.
