I was actually reluctant to give the Familiar #1 5 stars because of some weaknesses, but I gave in to the full five because I was deeply impressed with the ambition and the scope.
#2 wholly deserves the 5. It's just as complex and surreal as #1, but the minor characters are stronger, the plots are tighter and there are hints of complex connections between the characters and different points of view.
I am 100% signed on for the journey and I cannot wait for #3.
