Slowness (French: La Lenteur) is a novel by Czech writer Milan Kundera published in 1995 in France, where the author has been living since the 1970s. It's his first fictional work written in French. In the book, Kundera manages to weave together a number of plot lines, characters and themes in just over 150 pages. While the book has a narrative, it mainly serves as a way for Kundera to expound his philosophical ideas about modernity, technology, memory and sensuality.

I could listen to this man talk about assholes for days for all I care. In fact, I wish somebody would write a book made entirely of asshole metaphors. From now on, I will live comparing every object, every emotion and sensation, every action to an asshole and try my best to understand the world through asshole metaphors alone.
