Review of 'Salt River' on 'LibraryThing'
The opening line pretty well sums it up: "Sometimes you just have to see how much music you can make with what you have left." The writing is gorgeous, as always, and the voice original as a man who has been on both sides of the law copes with a wide variety of problems in a story that has a still center of contemplation in spite of all the stories going on. Sad and hopeful, though there is a hint this series is nearing the end of its natural life. I have not connected with this series as deeply as I did the Lew Griffith books, but Sallis is always worth reading.
