I'm definitely too old for this book. And too tainted. I kept thinking "Kids, who raised you?? You can't just go and follow the instructions in some peculiar book. Has Mr. Weasley taught you nothing? 'Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain.' How exceedingly hand that there is a vial hidden in the books spine just when you need it. What if you free something that should stayed locked up??"
It was fast paced and entertaining, and I can really see 7 to 15 year olds enjoying this immensely. I liked it too, but kept expecting the worst with every page I turned, so I was going into it with far less lightness than required.

I read this at the recommendation of our sixth grade students. It is a good book to base a library treasure hunt on and it is cute and recommended for fairy tale lovers. It lacks depth and diversity, there were a few parts that struck me as a bit sexist/predictable and/or silly. But for the 9 to 11 crowd, yes.
A very cute little book. Pretty predictable but Minime absolutely devoured it! The first full-sized novel she ever read and I can see why it hooked her. It has all the elements to make kids love it.
