Jason Molenda reviewed Letter 44 by Charles Soule (Letter 44, #1)
Review of 'Letter 44, Volume 1: Escape Velocity' on 'Goodreads'
2 stars
The first graphic novel I've ever read. I think I was turned off by the medium more than anything else - every man is ripped and macho, every woman is busty and curvy and there for the men to appreciate. I bought it after hearing the premise, which sounded pretty cool, but the negatives outweighed the positives by a big margin. I assumed graphic novels were aimed at teenage boys and this one only reinforced that idea. I also read the second volume in the series. And at $10 per volume, and maybe 45-60 minutes to read, it's pricey. The third volume was $15 and that was a step too far, stopped after the second vol.
