A Hunger-Games-esque story of teenagers needing to compete in a brutal competition in order to Qualify (in comes the title) to be rescued from Earth, which has a date with a giant asteroid which will wreck everything.
The main character is the standard YA heroine, highly competent in academic fields but garbage at gym, insecure about chances to compete etc.
Turns out Atlantis is real, and when it went toast on Earth, the Atlanteans just climbed aboard their starships and headed for the stars. Now they've returned but can only take 10 million teenagers with them to live on Atlantis-the-planet and survive asteroid-geddon. The teenagers are first picked by a weird test at their school, then moved to another facility where they learn about Atlantis and its tech that outshines anything currently on Earth. And how to fight. In order to make it past two rounds of qualifying, the kids …
