Erin reviewed The Birthday of the World by Ursula K. Le Guin
Review of 'The Birthday of the World' on 'Goodreads'
3 stars
I read this to finish up the Hainish Cycle. I read Coming of Age in Karhide, Unchosen Love, and Mountain Ways. I also read Birthday of the World and tried Paradises Lost, but wasn’t motivated to finish it. Surprising since it seems like many reviewers loved it! I had already read the other stories in other collections.
I think Mountain Ways was the most interesting of the short stories to me. I was startled by the ending, which was more ambiguous and dark than most of Le Guin’s work I think.
