I read this as a mindless easy read. About every 10 months I need one of those from Nora Roberts. This fit her "usual" romance story. This one is that a woman is running from an abusive husband, finds a new home and a new life with a new man and discovers new powers within herself. It is a nice uplifting story. The climax was very close to the end of the book, as in one or two pages of denoument, which is really not enough for how much the story worked up to the final confrontation.
I do like that Roberts writes romance for women of all ages. This particular trilogy homes in on women in their late 20s and early 30s.
While I usually like Roberts' weaving in of the "other" I did find her mix of witchcraft to be a little jolting. I don't think she found …
