The four children return to the lake for another summer camping on their island with their old allies, Nancy and Peggy, otherwise known as the Amazon pirates. But immediately disaster strikes when the Swallows find themselves marooned ashore by the shipwreck of their boat. But if they can't have the island, there's always Swallowdale, the secret valley, hidden from the world and containing an extra secret concealed within it.

Wow, this was better than the last one. Just a bunch of kids, having a holiday. Sailing is off because they sunk the boat. Their friends are being terrorized by the Great Aunt (makes them wear their best frocks) who just won't go home. Hiking, camping, actually not a lot happens in terms of plot but there is just so much that feels like a childhood, the tons of little details and imaginative schemes. Yes, time to head onto the next one.
