Still stranded in 1815, FBI agent Kendra Donovan finds herself on the trail of a vicious murderer with a shocking secret. As a special agent for the FBI, Kendra thought she'd encountered every kind of evil. But when another, even more vicious murder rocks East Dingleford, Kendra realizes that they're dealing with a stone-cold killer -- one who has a shocking secret that he will do anything to protect.
Didn't solve part A, solved part B probably to the same degree as other readers did and I thought that I'm about to rate it as 3 stars because A wasn't too interesting and I probably could figure it out.
The author played with the dangling plot lines really well, again, though. That said...
...as the book was reaching the conclusion it, to quote @johnathan arnold, started getting better and better. All the buildup was well worth it!
The third book in the fascinating Kendra Donovan series, this one finds Kendra, who has mysteriously ended up in early 18th century England, trying to find the murderer of a mill foreman, as they were passing through the town. The Luddites had ransacked the factory and the foreman was found dead, but Kendra suspects something more foul and they investigate further.
There are some interesting stories to be told in the small town of East Dingleford, with many a twisted tale. Things get serious when more murders, this time even more vicious, happen and she tries to track the killer (or is it killers?). Things come to a head in a very thrilling conclusion, with a pretty shocking turn of events!

I have to admit, this one took me a lot longer than the previous two. The mystery itself was a bit turgid and I kept losing track of the people. Too many Mr. Smiths, and Lords and Ladies and I was having a hard time keeping them straight. And the mystery itself seemed to be dragged out a bit more than necessary.
But there were some pretty standout characters as well. Kendra in particular was forced to face up to how women were treated back then, especially those of a lower class. She was constantly frustrated by the lack of control she has over her life in the early 1700s, and is increasingly torn by her feelings for the Duke's son Alec, and wondering if she will ever get back to her own time.
I really enjoyed the ending of the book though and honestly found it hard to put down for the last 20% or so. The action got intense and then there was the big twist / reveal at the end that I just didn't see coming at all. I thought it all a great wrap up of the book and mystery and now I can't wait to read the next one, [b:Betrayal in Time|41817433|Betrayal in Time (Kendra Donovan, #4)|Julie McElwain|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1538474960l/41817433.SY75.jpg|65256451]. Kendra is a fantastic heroine - headstrong, smart and effective. I love how she plays off the locals in time. It's really fun! The whole series is highly recommended.
