Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter

I could not put this book down and stayed up all night to read it. It is flawed, but there were little bursts of amazing writing. The characters were so compelling that I felt my heart breaking all over Larry Ott, and was so disturbed at one point that I had to finish half a batch of cookies to get on with my life. Wow! Very compelling!

This wasn't a modern Faulkner. It doesn't breathe the same air as Cormac McCarthy. Too many reviews say these things. It was a perfectly cromulent book, if you're willing not to expect a New American Masterpiece.
