Maybe I'm being a bit too mean giving this just three stars, since I did "really like it", but while it's exiting and somewhat of a pageturner once you get through the first chapter or two, it's also a bit ordinary. The world building varies the same parameters everyone else vary, the good are good, even when they're thieves, and the bad are bad, and the differences are shallow and don't matter at all to the story.
But maybe I was just put off by the slightly too in medias res of the opening chapter. Too much information was thrown at me and I missed essential parts. Parts so essential they were referred to often enough that I understood what had happened, but each time I was also reminded that the start of the book confused me.
