I was highly skeptical when I started this: Dust and Shadow is at least the third account of Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper that I’ve read, and I was a bit tired of the subject. As it turns out, Faye has constructed an excellent and exciting adventure that seamlessly blends the world of Holmes and Watson with the realities of The Ripper murders. Her research into the topic seems exhaustive and she effortlessly evokes a Watsonian voice. There is even a reference to the (real life) London Monster. Highly recommended.
