My usual reading follows the 'Ridiculous Crime' rule of 99% murder-free but sometimes it's good to give yourself a change. This novel follows a popular teenage girl as she descends into blackmail, cannibalism and murder. "Carrie" for the splatterpunk fans.

I didn't really need the cannibalism (didn't think it added anything), wondered if a teenage girl could be three months pregnant without anyone noticing, and thought that even if the murderer is an unsuspected teenage girl the police would surely take some interest? Serial killers travel around for a reason - one murder in a small town is unfortunate, two looks like carelessness. Surely Inspector Brain Cell is going to work out that all the missing persons have someone in common.

It was a good read though as the storytelling is good and that is what counts, never mind the plausibility.

Review of 'Full Brutal' on 'Goodreads'

This wasn't quite as 'bad' as I'd feared; I enjoy splatter punk every once and awhile but usually don't like gore in every page, and this one delivered it nicely spaced. The book was pretty long, which gave me time to start to actually like the main character (somehow?!). As an aside, I really hope male teachers aren't that easy to seduce, and I felt like her build up to insanity was way to quick. Doing these things just cuz she was bored didn't make much sense, but I guess that was probably the point!
