Review of 'Ballad of Love and Glory' on 'Goodreads'

I wouldn't have thought it possible to hate the US more than I already do, but after reading this I know there's always a way. The Mexican War is something we're barely taught about in school, and what little we do learn is presented almost like it was a natural disaster, something that just happened with no real cause and that no one was really responsible for. In reality, it was a barbaric and barely disguised war of aggression that the Polk administration blatantly lied the country into. Of the San Patricios we learn nothing at all; I only knew about them because of a song by the folk musician David Rovics. When I heard there was a historical fiction novel about them I jumped at the chance to read it and I'm glad I did.
