The kitchen house

What an amazing, and powerful book. It did take a bit to get in to, but once I did, I jukst ept going. I wanted to know the stories of all the characters, and I sure got them. Very well researched. I need more books like this.

I have friends who don't like "sad" books, so just as a warning, this novel is filled with tragedies heaped upon tragedies. But the story is interesting and well-paced, the suspense is masterful, the characters are well-developed and three-dimensional, and the prose is lovely. It's the best book I've read in a long while.
