Oreo Teeth reviewed The light between oceans by M. L. Stedman

This book had me heart and soul in the first two parts. The tragic beauty of a man trying to heal the psychic wounds of war by retreating to a lighthouse on a remote island to raise his family in peace just sang to me. Even when he and his wife made truly bad choices I understood them and was with them and wished some joy would come out of it. It touched my heart and made me nearly weepy. Then part three brought our little family back to mainland Australia and the melodrama that ensued nearly ruined the book for me. Nearly, then brought me back. By the end I was a maudlin lump once more despite the annoyance of the early chapters in the third part.
