All these book have been pretty much 3 1/2 stars for me. That is between 3, good, and 4, pretty good-really good. I decided to bump this one up as I hadn't with the previous ones.
Chris as a character is comic book, except he keeps getting more. If he is attacked, don't expect him to have any damage, to lose, or to falter. If his gf, Tanya, the Queen of the vampires is threatened, expect Chris to run and save the day with just the right thing. There is no anxiety for the reader of Chris not being able to save the day. At the end of this book there is a point where he isn't the most uber powerful being in the fight so that was different and I'm sure from here we will have to get more of that but it will never be the ordinary. That Chris pegs all these military as self-important or self-assured and doesn't look in the mirror is a bit humorous. Of course we are supposed to understand that for him it is because he is the bomb. So does this make the book bad or irritating? No, not at all but it does leave it lacking in depth. In this book we get a little more depth to some of the supporting characters and we get a possible vulnerability, so it was better than the ones before it.
So one inconsistency, the vampire contingency flies to D.C. to Ronald Regan National in a 747, well, Regan is too short a runway, 7,169'. Why they have to have this bulky wide body jet anyway, it just limits landing airport.
So these are more like a day in the life, or maybe a couple of weeks in the life of Chris. He fights the Loki weres. He find out a little more and he finds out more about possible government organizations that might be studying him. This all happens while he is also becoming more entrenched with the vampires and have to move to the politics there too.
These are a bit gung-ho and gun happy but they are entertaining and enjoyable. I'll probably read through them since my husband is and we can both enjoy them and then have discussions.
