this one definitely favors action and intrigue over romance. which kind of makes sense since we already have gotten multiple elena and raphael books. their bits together were less sexy, more togetherness. elena and raphael have never been my favorite, and still aren't (ash and javier, or mahiya and jason!!), but i guess i'm liking them more.
aside from the fact that i didn't love the couple, the majority of the story doesn't take place in new york or the refuge or anywhere where my faves are. dmitri and honor were there for maybe two seconds, illium for maybe five, but aodhan got to be in the whole thing. which is cool because he's been pretty closed off from the beginning; maybe nalini is gearing up for the next book to be his? but at the same time i still wish i had the chance to catch up with my …

and for once, i was just a little bored. that made me sad because nalini never bores me.
not my favorite because it was more of "let's not screw the world up" rather than a romance, but still intriguing.
