4.5 stars. Funny, entertaining. Pleasantly surprised after reading his [b:The Automatic Detective|1265289|The Automatic Detective|A. Lee Martinez|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1312026748s/1265289.jpg|1254169] and finding it somewhat lacking.
This book was a really great way to get through a stressful week at work.
It's kinda [a:Christopher Mooreish|16218|Christopher Moore|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1200095788p2/16218.jpg], but with fewer totally out of it moments and unbelievable characters.
I listened to it as an audiobook and the narrator did an excellent job, bringing out the characters. Giving the ghouls a British accent was a stroke of comic genius.
I'm never totally sure that a book I listened to especially a funny one, would be as good in print as it was in audio. How much of it was the text and how much of it was the performance.
In this case I must say it was a 5 start performance.
Totally absurd-loved it. Great book to read when you need pure entertainment.
Edit: Yeah. This book does NOT hold up. 10 years later and I can't say I enjoyed this in the slightest. Okay, that's not totally fair. There were parts that were funny, but I spent most of the time rolling my eyes.
