The Establishment: And How They Get Away With It is a non-fiction book published in 2014 by the British writer and political commentator Owen Jones. In it, Jones describes relationships between different groups which he believes form the British Establishment. He explains the links between these groups and their purported common interest in promoting right-wing ideals, while often claiming to serve the public.

Provides an enormously detailed account of the working of the British Establishment, that network of people mostly from the most prestigious universities and private schools, who run the major institutions in the country.

They know each other, provide lucrative, powerful jobs for each other and move easily from business to Parliament and back.

This book exposes the mechanisms by which this works.

We could use a similar book for Canada, which works in a similar way, but it's still worth reading for Canadians, even if the details differ.

The US is different but the last chapter, on how to move towards a real democracy, is good reading for anyone.
