total fluff. but fun fluff.
most of the characters are flat; the central character is not particularly likeable but she is ambitious, ethically ambiguous, and interesting enough to keep my interest. the first-person letters from the historical figure are distracting and feel unnecessary. the mystery is decent. quite enjoyed the detailed insight into the production and trade of fine art.
