Just back from a wonderful hiking trip on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and want to learn more about the history of this magical place. Evangeline is a fictional account of lovers separated by the British expulsion of the Acadians from Nova Scotia in the 18th century. It's Longfellow, so florid and melodramatic, but also surprisingly touching. Now I'm on to some non-fictional Cape Breton history...
