A deeply disturbing book on alien intelligence, deep sea monsters, and the limits of human consciousness. Watts explores what happens when humans are put under stress and duress. What makes the book so disturbing, is the notion that one might be addicted to a use and stress and how little difference there is between humans, animals, and machines.
