Great for understanding and raising awareness. More than a rare disorder (1 in 1,500 or less), Misophonia is estimated to affect 15% of U.S. adults (225 in 1,500).

Since it can range from almost nothing to debilitating, it’s useful to know more about the wide variety of symptoms and what differentiates it from common misdiagnoses like ADHD, OCD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. I was surprised not only at the range of triggers, but that they can be attributed to specific people or things. While most commonly sounds, triggers can also be visual, touch, smell, and vibrations.

The book covers many cases and common symptoms, some official scales to gauge yourself, and a breakdown of the processes inside your brain and physically. Knowing the stages and stimuli that elicit a chain reaction will help anyone to be more aware of their (or someone else's) unique condition to better handle their reactions.
