Anyone who knows me knows I pretty much form an ulcer whenever I read/watch a story that involves someone making a string of terrible decisions (I call it Ferris Bueller Syndrome), so I need to caveat my 3-star review of this book with that perspective. If I weren't so allergic to bad decisions, I probably would've enjoyed this more.
While I cringed through so many decisions (including the pattern of sleeping with guys too quickly, giving them way too much power to "be the solution" and fleeing potentially good situations without giving people a chance), I could also accept that it was probably realistic given the character's backstory.
I can't say I enjoyed it, but it did make me pause and reconsider some of the lives I may have judged too harshly in the past: my classmates who dropped out of high school, whose home situations were questionable, who struggled …
