Talguy reviewed The Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult
confusing, but good ending
3 stars
First 80% is confusing and a little all over the place, some good some bad, I enjoyed the ending.

What I liked about this book: the lead character is a "death doula" and the scenes she spent performing that role were interesting and seemed well researched.
What I did not like about this book: 1) It contained WAY too much Egyptian mythology for my taste. Picoult had obviously done a lot of research, but this wouldn't been a place where her editor could've suggested she slay some darlings. I'm not a fan of a story-within-a-story, and in this case, it didn't really add much. 2) Anyone who has read more than one Picoult book knows to expect a plot twist. You could see this one coming from a mile away. 3) I understand that this was sort of the point of the book, but the protagonist was way too wishy-washy about which path her life should follow. Pick a lane, lady.
