4 stars
Zumas paints a picture of a not so distant dystopia in such subtle strokes that it took me a few chapters grasp the horror. Red Clocks is a tale of five women whose lives are interwoven, yet face distinct battles in this post Roe v Wade landscape. While I wasn’t always sold on the writing style, I devoured this book in one sitting so as not to lose sight of the clues Zumas left that connected all these women. Would recommend to anyone with a uterus or a desire to understand the complexity of socially constructed womanhood.
