I confess that I only bought the book because it has the Space Needle on the cover — but I ended up loving it. It tells a (fictionalized) story of the Seattle world's fair, flashing back and forth between the time of the fair, and 2001 — when the man who ran the fair runs for mayor. He's a richly imagined, wonderful character, as is the journalist who's investigating him in 2001. Highly recommended. The author is clearly in love with Seattle. The portrait of Seattle in 1962 as the Space Needle and the world's fair come together is riveting.
