The Dark Fields is a 2001 techno-thriller novel by Irish writer Alan Glynn. It was re-released in March 2011 under the title Limitless, in order to coincide with its 2011 film adaptation.

Fast-paced tech-thriller.
I didn't have such a problem with this despite the talkiness of it. Once you get past the idea that someone making a good amount of money in a socially sanctioned way is going to go to organised crime for a loan (robbing a bank would actually be less dangerous as you mainly risk jail time) then the rest goes from there. Apparently the film was ok too.
