Review of 'To Protect (I, Robot: Reichert #1)' on 'Storygraph'
2 stars
PROS
- Susan Calvin is in it
- N8-C "Nate" was pretty neat... when he was around.
- ???
CONS
- needed more robots
- romance bits were weirdly shoehorned in, seemed rushed/forced/cheesy etc. (BONUS: weird focus on losing virginity, to this guy, at age 26 [srsly who cares that Dr. Calvin is a virgin and wait, why is that even important?(1)]; "You think I'm about to tell you I'm a transvestite, aren't you?" / Worried about an "incurable venereal disease" and lesbianism, all on one convenient page [p 322, for those playing at home]. You'd think that in the year 2035 society'd be less... juvenile about that sorta thing)
- rushed and predictable the last 40-50 pages... if not sooner
- did I mention the lack of robots?
- Seriously, this reads more like a medical drama than what's usually associated with Asimov. This may have been the nail …

I believe this is part of a series, but I'm not really that invested in checking it out.
(1) Wait, I know why. To make Remy's heroic death all the more tragic because they didn't sleep together. Or some shit.
