Review of "Summary of Annette Gordon-Reed's on Juneteenth" on 'Goodreads'

Too personal for what I was looking for
This is not a bad book, per se; the vignettes are well-drawn and the stories cover a broad sweep of the relevant history. But I was hoping, perhaps for something less personal and more historical, particularly on the ebb and flow of Juneteenth’s celebration in Texas and its recent turn into a more national(?) event. If that’s what you’re looking for, I suspect you’ll have to turn elsewhere.
