An interesting look at Vietnam. it feels like a book written by a journalist, but for that he does a good job pulling back and tying the details together to create a coherent picture. He does a good job building up to the US involvement in Vietnam, tying in all the players (the French, Vietnamese, Chinese etc) and how things were situated as they were. As the book goes on it becomes more and more US focused, where by the end the North Vietnamese perspective is added as an afterthought. This is more apparent due to how well he does tying in multiple perspectives earlier in the book. All in all though, it does a good job covering a long war in as detailed a manner as one could hope.
