I almost gave up on this about 30% in, the time shifts, narrative shift and lack of any sense of control and development had me really regretting getting the book. I stuck with it and some of the above still applies, but there is an intensity and candour that you will seldom meet and at the end it is a great book - make sure you read the acknowledgments at the end to get some rebalance.
