The White Rose is the third novel in Glen Cook's ongoing series, The Black Company. The series combines elements of epic fantasy and dark fantasy as it follows an elite mercenary unit, The Black Company, through roughly forty years of its approximately four hundred-year history.
Tense, action packed finale, couldn't think of a better way to wrap things up for this section of the story!
The third book of the trilogy and it brings the storyline that started in The Black Company to a close. I enjoyed this book the most of the three, by far. The characters are much more complex and developed, and the way there's no real "good" or "evil", just lots of shades of grey, makes the story all the more interesting. Plus, the details of the ending actually surprised me a bit, which is all too rare.
The trilogy is a little too gritty and war-oriented for my normal taste, but I wasn't disappointed by the conclusion and found it a satisfying read. I couldn't put the last few chapters down till I finished.
Awesome conclusion to the trilogy.
Encore plus captivant que le précédent volume, ce 3ème tome gagne en intensité. L’histoire de complique, les personnages ont de plus en plus de nuances et réservent bien des surprises. Je suis emballée !
