Norwegian explorer and publisher Erling Kagge knows all about walking. He walked to the North and South Poles (in South Pole in total solitude), and all the way to the top of Earth. Walking – One Step at a Time is a thoughtful essay, a philosophical adventure where Kagge addresses the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other. There are references to Thoreau, Immanuel Kant, Søren Kierkegaard, Milan Kundera, Steve Jobs and many others. I loved the story when Eve and Adam walked out of paradise. They eat from the tree of knowledge and as soon as they did, they walked out becoming history’s first explores. That’s what humans do ever since. And that’s what makes life interesting and beautiful.
