I bought this book from a London bookstore when I was on vacation last summer and felt it was finally time to read it. Though this novel wasn’t what I expected it to be, I found the prose eloquent and engaging, the characters well formed and diverse, and the historical elements both fascinating and accurate. I look forward to reading the proceeding book, The Art of Dying.
