Review of 'Family Life' on 'Goodreads'

A good book and a quick read. Definitely sad and sometimes frustrating because it's easy to think that you know better. But if you let go of your preconceptions that come from growing up in your culture, this is a window into how's family from another culture deals with tragedy.

Review of 'Family Life' on 'Goodreads'

3 1/2 stars.

I liked this book. I like just about any book that gives you a glimpse into an unfamiliar world. Indians who come to America without trying to assimilate into the American culture are basically stuck between two disparate worlds without being part of either one. This book gave one a clear look into the difficulties of straddling those worlds with the added burden of caring for a sick child who would never recover. And the child who is well never recovers from the guilt of being well. The ending though...meh.
